STS 95 Launch Activities
Oregon Museum of Science & Industry
29 October 1998

STS 95 LogoOregon Public Broadcasting, Harris Corporation, and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) teamed up to present the STS-95 Discovery launch with John Glenn's return to space in high-definition television (HDTV). Classes from several schools, media reporters, and community leaders were present for the event, and Oregon L5 was there!

At our table outside the Auditorium and Sky Theater we displayed signboards on Oregon L5 and space colonies, had reference material on the space program and upcoming plans for space tourism, and sold rocket posters donated to Oregon L5 by Mission H.O.M.E. (Harvesting Opportunity for Mother Earth).

Oregon L5 members volunteering their time included President Cheryl Lynn York, Secretary Bryce Walden, LAW Group Chair Tom Billings, and Mission H.O.M.E. representative Greg Leo. Media Team Chair Thomas Hanna was one of the featured speakers at the event.

Our appreciation goes to OMSI and Sky Theater manager Jim Todd for arranging for our presence at the last minute. Here are some images from our virtual photo album of the event:
